ChartInsight™ Product Update — August 2026

TL;DR

• Password-protected medical records are no longer a dead end: enter the password after upload, processing waits, and downloads stay encrypted.
• Chronologies can group treating physicians by most recent visit or most visits, and Markdown tables now turn a Pages column into live citation chips.
• Word files, emails, and photos on a matter now show up in search.
• BMI appears on the vitals timeline — reported when the chart wrote it, derived from height and weight when it did not.

What's new?

Password-protected productions can be unlocked in place — ChartInsight™ waits, then processes, and keeps the downloaded file encrypted.

Provider portals and opposing-counsel productions often arrive as password-protected PDFs. Until August, that file stopped the record: a generic “corrupt or password-protected” error, and no way to recover without stripping the file and uploading again.

You can now enter the password after upload on a Record or a Matter document, retry if it is wrong, and leave the file in a password-required state until it unlocks. ChartInsight™ uses the stored password to read, OCR, Bates, and page-cite the file. When you download the original, it is still password-protected.

What that gets you:

• Productions from portals and opposing counsel do not have to be decrypted before they enter the case file
• The record keeps moving once the last protected file on it is unlocked
• In-app viewing uses the unlocked pages; the file you take with you stays encrypted

Chronology, citations, and vitals

For paralegals building a WC medical chronology and QMEs walking a treating-physician timeline, August made the record easier to read in the order the case actually needs.

• Provider group order: Sort by Provider now ranks treating physicians by most recent visit, most visits, or A–Z / Z–A, then orders that physician’s appointments inside the group.
• Sticky group headings: In a long chronology, the current month or provider heading stays on screen while you scroll through that group, so rows do not go unlabeled.
• Page chips in Markdown tables: Custom-section tables that use a Pages column now render those cells as the same clickable citation chips as structured tables and prose citations.
• Citations to photos and Word files: A citation to a photo or extracted letter no longer appends a fake “page 1” — page suffixes stay on real PDFs.
• BMI on the vitals timeline: Reported BMI is extracted and cited; when the chart only has height and weight, ChartInsight™ derives BMI so the column is there for QME review.
• Spine pain add-ons stay on their region: A pain add-on entered on one spinal region no longer inflates every other spine row on the rating.

Matter files

Matter documents are part of the case file, not a side upload. August closed the gaps that left Word files, photos, and combined records out of the work.

• Word, email, and photo files are searchable: .docx, text, HTML, email, and photos are indexed so they show up in matter search instead of sitting behind a “Not indexed” badge.
• Create a Medical Record from a classified document: When a matter document is classified as a medical record, you can create a discrete Medical Record from it. The document stays in the list, linked to the record it produced.
• Combined medical record in Documents: After the master record generates, Medical Record - Combined.pdf appears in the matter’s Documents list for preview and download.

Getting in and getting around

• Continue with Microsoft: Sign in and create an account with Microsoft alongside Google.
• Dashboard leads with matters: The dashboard’s primary action is Start a matter, with a Your matters panel above Recent work. Upload records is one click away; it is no longer the only thing the home screen offers.
• Matters above Records in the sidebar: After Dashboard, the first destination is Matters.
